De-greasing and priming your TGG resin miniatures

June 05, 2015 1 min read

As many of you asked us about the best way to de-grease and prime their resin TGG minis, we directly asked our foundry what was the best way to do it and here's their recommendation.

First, use dishwashing liquid and let soak for 5 minutes. Do NOT use regular soap which is not enough to de-grease the resin.

After that you can apply your primer. Our foundry recommended this one: Krylon All-Purpose Black Spray Aerosol Spray Decorator Primer. Another option is mr.resin surfacer primer (mr hobby).

Please note that applying primer to a resin miniature is not the same as for a metal one. You need to apply the primer in a very fine mist, and let dry, and then do it again. You might have to do 4 or 5 passes of very light spray. Otherwise, the layer underneath stays wet, which causes the eventual flaking.

Using an airbrush is also a good way to apply primer, but you'll want to use a Badger primer for it.
